After the brilliant experience at the 1978 Giro d’Italia, Fiat prepared 2 Ritmo 75s in the group 2 version to field them at the 1978 Monte Carlo. Attilio Bettega and Per Eklund were called to drive them. Despite some good results in the first stages of the Rally, the two small cars foundered in that rally also due to an inadequate supply of tyres. In the end, after Bettega retired, Eklund obtained an anonymous 89th place overall
