Thanks to the collaboration with BBR of Saronno, leaders in the production of Ferrari models for years, we have the opportunity to use their model to create a series of 512 BB long tails. The first group of the new series completes the line that BBR itself, in the Gasoline brand, had produced a few years ago. Our model has received some modifications thanks to modern technologies aimed at integrating some additional details. Particular attention has been paid to the cockpit and the mechanical parts, while other changes have been carried out through the creation of new photo-etched parts. All models are available both assembled and in kit form.
Are 1398 – 512 BB – 1979 is the year of the debut of the long tail version of the 512 BB made by Ferrari and bodied by Pininfarina. The car is particularly aerodynamic and, theoretically, high-performing thanks to the 12 cylinder motor. The team of the French importer Charles Pozzi took care of the first outing at the 24 Hours of Daytona and now presents itself at its home race in France with two cars. The #62 is driven by Andruet and Dini and will not finish the race due to engine problems. Chassis # 26681
Are 1399 – 512 BB – The second Berlinetta Boxer entered in the 1979 24 Hours as #63, driven by the Frenchmen Ballot-Lena and Leclere as well as the American Peter Gregg, was forced to retire due to an accident. Chassis #26685
Are 1400 – 512 BB – Entered by Luigi Chinetti in the 1980 24 Hours, the BB #74 driven by Preston Henn and Jean-Pierre Delaunay did not take part in the race as its engine irreparably broke during testing. It was equipped with unusual BBS split rim wheels. Chassis #30559
Are 1401 – 1402 -1403 – 512 BB – The Italian Bellancauto team, created by the gentleman driver and great collector Fabrizio Violati, prepared a 512 BB for the 1980 season. The team made some technical changes that, in theory, were supposed to improve its performance. Among these were front brake hot air vents located on the bonnet and protected by special grilles, the particularly compact and profiled rear-view mirrors and a different shape of the NACA air intakes on the sides. As #31 the car took part in the 1000 Kms of Monza with Violati and Dini but it retired due to engine problems (Are 1403). At the French 24 Hours, Dini and Violati were joined by Maurizio Micangeli. The car took part in practice with the race #79 and in yellow (Are 1401), qualifying in forty-first position. In the race (Are 1402) a major accident soon took it out of contention without being able to demonstrate its potential. Chassis #28601
Are 1404 – 512 BB – The Belgian team Rennod Racing fielded this car with the #46 at the 24 Hours of 1981 driveren by Xenceval and Dieudonné. The car was equipped with self-ventilating BBS wheels. It finished in ninth place overall. Chassis #35525
Are 1405 – 512 BB – A classic configuration for the car of the Pozzi team with the #47 at the 24 hours of 1981. Andruet and Ballot-Lena took it to fifth place overall and first in the IMSA GTX category. This result will remain the best among all the participations of the BB at the 24 Hours. Chassis #31589
Are 1406 – 512 BB – The British team Simon Phillips Racing showed up at the 1981 24 Hours with an all-white car characterized by two small NACA air intakes on the sides of the front spoiler. Driven by Earle, Salmon and Phillips himself, the #48 did not finish the race due to chassis problems. Chassis #35523
Are 1407 – 512 BB – Forced to retire due to an accident, the red #49 entered by NART in the 1981 24 Hours, was driven by Cudini, Gurdjian and Morton. Chassis #35527
Are 1408 – 512 BB – The BB sponsor Pioneer for Pozzi team engaged in the 1982 24 Hours with Andruet, Ballot-Lena and Regout. The blue car of the French team will not finish the race due to engine problems. Chassis #41263
Are 1409 – 512 BB – Cudini, Morton and John Paul brought this BB #72 entered by NART home in 9th place in the 24 Hours of 1982. Chassis #35527
Are 1410 – 512 BB – #73 was the second car entered by NART in the 24 Hours of 1982 and raced by Henn, Lanier and Morin but sadly did not reach the finish line. Chassis #30559
